Jason D. Lazarus, J.D., LL.M., MSCC is the founder and CEO of Synergy. Synergy allows trial lawyers to focus on what they do best by handling all the issues which arise at settlement such as lien resolution, Medicare compliance, and public benefit preservation techniques for protecting the recovery. Jason is passionate about Synergy’s mission of improving the lives of the catastrophically injured and Synergy’s corporate values of professionalism, respect, integrity, dedication and empathy. Being an injury victim himself, gives him unique insight into the clients Synergy seeks to help at the time they need it most.
Mr. Lazarus is a renowned legal settlement services industry expert. His written work is widely published and his thought leadership in Medicare compliance has been cited by Federal courts and Florida courts including the Florida Supreme Court. Art of Settlement, Mr. Lazarus’ first book, is an Amazon best seller and helps lawyers navigate regulatory compliance issues when settling catastrophic cases. He hosts the Trial Lawyer View podcast which highlights trial lawyers and how they help the catastrophically injured.
He is available to consult with trial lawyers across the country when they are dealing with the issues that arise at settlement including lien resolution, Medicare compliance, government benefit preservation, trusts and protection of the financial recovery.
Mr. Lazarus is the proud father of three children: Sarah, Kyle, and Camille. In his free time, he is an avid cyclist and amateur auto racer given his need for speed! Mr. Lazarus has a passion for UCF and FSU football. He works out of the Synergy main office in Orlando. Contact Jason here.
Past Experience
Prior to founding Synergy, Mr. Lazarus was the President of a National Settlement Planning firm. Before that, he spent 10 years assisting injury victims as a settlement planner. Prior to starting his settlement planning practice, Mr. Lazarus practiced as a Medical Malpractice and Workers’ Compensation attorney in Orlando, Florida. He also established and still is the managing partner of the Special Needs Law Firm, a Florida-based firm dedicated to protecting government benefits and Medicaid lien resolution.
Education
Jason received his B.A. from the University of Central Florida and his J.D. with high honors from Florida State University. He received his LL.M. in Elder Law with Distinction from Stetson University College of Law. Mr. Lazarus is a Medicare Set Aside Consultant certified by the International Commission on Health Care Certification.

Mr. Lazarus Mr. Lazarus is the author of two books. He authored the Art of Settlement (a guide for trial lawyers), an Amazon best seller and Litigation to Life (a guide for injury victims). He has had his written work published by AAJ’s Trial Magazine, Florida Justice Association Journal, The Florida Bar Journal, NAELA Journal, ElderLaw Report, Exceptional Parent, The Employee Advocate, News and 440 Report and The Journal of Transnational Law & Policy. Jason authored a guide for trial lawyers related to regulatory compliance for catastrophic injury settlements. He has presented on relevant topics for the American Association for Justice, Southern Trial Lawyers Association, Florida Justice Association, Florida Conference of Circuit Judges, Florida Workers Advocates, Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar, Mass Torts Made Perfect, Lorman Educational Seminars and countless local trial lawyer groups.

Mr. Lazarus is a member of the Florida Bar, Florida Justice Association (Eagle Member), American Association for Justice, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Academy of Special Needs Planners, American Association of Settlement Consultants (President-Elect), Society of Settlement Planners (Past President) and the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals.
Mr. Lazarus strongly believes in giving back and he is a Board Member of the Foundation for Those with Special Needs, serves on the Executive Board for ADA’s Tour De Cure and is actively involved with the Faine House, a home for teens aging out of the foster system in Orlando.
